- H2 : Resonance (UK) Limited evolved from successful freelance careers in 2002 by award winning Sound designer Andy and his wife Mary Kennedy. Our business is sound capture, design, supervision and postproduction. It has required investment in state of the art equipment over a number of years retaining some bespoke audio equipment from the outset of the digital age. The compilation of a vast array of digital and analogue sound effects recorded and collated over 30 years from a hundreds of productions and projects. Resonance(UK) Ltd has a strong commitment to the delivery of high quality original soundtracks for film, television and interactive projects with a finite attention to detail. The search for the perfect combination of audio ingredients combined with a need to be original and unique. This has led to nominations and awards over a wide range of productions. A new branch to the company’s activities is public speaking, lectures and tutorials. This work has included part-time tutorials at The National film and Television school. Other bookings include lectures on sound design at various educational institutes and recordings of presentations by ‘Autism Oxford’ future multi media project. We have worked on everything from short films, commercials & television, interactive media through to large scale feature films with over thirty years experience. Specialisation on complex effects sequences has been a stream of recent work from intricate action sequences, too big budget CGI’s scenes. We can supply a range of pre mixed elements and designed sounds effects, either for 'temp' or 'final' mixes. A full supervised soundtrack facility from recording to mix are also available. , ( 0px from top )
- H1 : OUR WORK, ( 0px from top )
- H1 : Our Services, ( 0px from top )
- H2 : With years of experience we offer the facility to ‘think ahead’ for productions. In association with the chosen sound mixer or as an additional service. It’s a bespoke service dependant on production schedule on a full or part time basis to ensure the sound ‘capture’ of everything from a production’s dialogue to sound effects is never overlooked or missed. Sound can be a neglected part of a project and can have implications in post, especially, for instance, when a performance from an artist is marred by poor recording or background problems. Locations may look fantastic but being on a flight path can be sonically devastating for a period film setting. So advice or consultation during recce of locations can also avoid sound problems later. Although digital multi track recordings can give alternative possibilities, they do not always give you the best end results. Selective wild tracks for dialogue can be a better approach than multiple channels of muffled radio mic recordings. Sound effects capture are another area overlooked during the shoot. Rare action vehicles, animals and unique locations and crowds can sometimes only be recorded when the camera is rolling. An argument can be that the ‘productions’ budgets can’t cater for ‘post’ requirements during shoot, but this can be down to scheduling and planning. It is not unknown that we have to record important sound ingredients after filming, even when the ‘item’ or ‘group’ were on ‘standby’ for a large proportion of the shoot. Arranging to ADR performances on location can be possible if the location poses difficulties for recording wild tracks. This can be time consuming and artists get frustrated re-recording ‘a lot of takes’ instead of the chosen final edit. Being proactive during the shoot can save a production time and money at editorial all the way to the final mix. With fast internet connections, cloud hosting and internet conferencing the technology has now developed to a degree where a sound track can be created in any location worldwide. For example, tax implications on postproduction budgets can involve doing the editorial in one continent and mixing in another - even slipping time zones so a soundtrack is worked on whilst the mix crew rests. Some current workflow and methods have come down from previous techniques used on older technology. Embracing a new approach to sound post can be a challenge depending on the budgetary constraints and creative needs of a particular production. As interchange formats evolve into a more elegant process, the creative input of a good soundtrack can run parrallel with the editing of the production. Fine cut can be elusive if a project is chasing viewers ratings or the visual effects are incomplete during final mix. Working in a flexible way with modern workflows and teamwork is in essence, our business. , ( 0px from top )
